In an recent interview with Everyday Hearing I explain the reasons why I often recommend my clients hearing aid apps. Below a summary. It makes one wonder if the same opportunity awaits hearing care professionals. Therein lies an infinite debate. Should they stick to premium hearing aids or should they also recommend cheaper solutions such as OTC hearing aids, PSAPs (Personal Sound Amplification Products) or even augmented hearing mobile apps? When we asked this question to audiologist Birgitte Hansen of Hearing Home GmbH, she provided a straightforward answer. Ms. Hansen has helped more than 2000 clients over the past -ten years as a premium reseller for Phonak products. With that in mind, she makes her recommendations with the goal to build long-term relationships via the highest possible satisfaction guarantee she can give. For her, it’s not just about closing the deal. To that end, she recently started a collaboration with the start-up Fennex. This company provides an augmented hearing app that starts its solution with a hearing test so it can amplify sound selectively, also with wireless headphones. Ms. Hansen says she’s actively recommending it to some of [...]
Why Phonak Audéo B-Direct? Audéo B-Direct by Phonak is the newest device in the hearing aid industry and it features some interesting functionalities that I believe my clients, both new to hearing aids and experienced, will deeply enjoy as of mid-September. I have ranked the top five features that I consider life changing for mild to severe hearing loss consumers. 1. Connect to all cell phones (Made For All ‘MFA’) Audéo B-Direct easily connects to any mobile phone whether it runs on Android, iOS or other operative systems. As long as it uses the widely adopted Bluetooth® technology, your phone pairs with your Phonak hearing aid seamlessly. This means that my clients are not required to upgrade their mobile phone or switch to another brand to benefit from this innovation. This democratization step in the hearing industry delivers new opportunities to all consumers, and to half of my clients, who are using mobile phones other than iPhone. 2. Hands-free calls Imagine to answer phone calls with a touch of your hearing aids even if your phone is on the other side of [...]
Hearing Home GmbH opens its welcoming doors in Meilen to provide premium hearing care services with a new concept steeped in the comforts of home. Meilen, Zürich, Switzerland -- (press release) -- 09/13/2017 --In an industry motivated by sales volume rather than ongoing kindness and attention to detail, a new concept makes its way to the fore. Recently launched by Birgitte Hansen, a hearing consultant and Phonak Premium Hearing Aids reseller, Hearing Home GmbH is on to something. Providing services for those in need of care for hearing in Meilen, the new business gives private consultations in-house, literally. Based in her home, Hansen gives what she will only refer to as her guests, fulfilling one-on-one attention. So critical to the ongoing success of one's rehabilitation, the home-based hearing care center is a place to have the freedom to express concern, be heard, and be helped in real time. Hansen said of the new human-centric approach to hearing care: "Taking the time to listen to our guests' successes and challenges along their entire rehabilitation journey is our mission. I couldn't find a better [...]
Why is Hearing Home a home-based hearing care center? Let's face it, we audiologists work in an industry often motivated by sales volume rather than ongoing kindness and attention to detail. Over time, I have seen colleagues losing the focus on what brought us to this career path in the first place, which is (or should be) the willingness to help those in need as much as we possibly can. Fortunately, there are still many professionals that operate with a human-centric approach to hearing care. I truly admire them; they love their jobs regardless of the business performance and will never compromise on the most important thing in our activity, which is in my opinion, the 'relationship with clients'. After 10 years as a Hearing Care Professional in small and big centers, I was up to a new challenge. I have decided to open my own studio and I searched inspiring concepts around me, both in Switzerland and abroad. Nothing was truly reasoning with my style and ambition. The large majority of hearing care professionals are today found in shopping malls, opticians and high traffic street. Relationships with consumers are [...]
